La Gioconda is an opera in four acts by Amilcare Ponchielli to an Italian libretto by Arrigo Boito, based on Angelo by Victor Hugo. 1st performance: Teatro alla Scala, Milan, 1876.

La Gioconda is section of the standard operatic repertoire. There are several recordings of it, & these are ofttimes performed. These are one of merely two or three operas that features the main role for every of the sextuplet major voice types.
